Tranquility

Power for compute. On the Moon. Asked in public.

This is a constraints-first evaluation of using containerized thorium reactors to run AI training compute on the lunar surface. It was shelved because it sounded crazy, and because the hard stops were real. Those stops have moved. The papers are still here. You can read them, and you can ask them questions.

It is not a funded program. It is not a SpaceX contract. It is the record of someone thinking about power for compute before the grid runs out of polite answers. In about ten months the constraints moved. That is why it is back on the desk.

Reactors

The original stop. Modular thorium molten-salt designs exist now, and more of them keep appearing. That does not mean one is qualified for space. It means the hardware conversation is no longer theoretical.

Lift

Mass to the lunar surface is a Starship-class problem. Pink House does not build rockets. The papers treat lift as a SpaceX solution — if that class of vehicle works, the cargo math starts to close.

Time

Earth-side AI power demand is opening a gap the announced terrestrial projects do not cover. Time is running out, which is why this evaluation is more likely now than when it was put on the shelf.

Cost

Cost is a function of time and markets: launch price, reactor price, and the price of not having compute. The papers use order-of-magnitude figures. Treat them as planning numbers, not a bid.

Ask Tranquility

Questions go to the white-paper corpus — power, cooling, reactors, lift, waste, manpower, Earthside support. The model is told not to invent a contract or a flight rate. If the papers do not say it, it should say so.

How to read this
