Coach
You walk through six steps. Then you step back. The page belongs to the person with low vision.
- Open Compass. Let them look at the page.
- The type is already large. If they want it larger, hold Ctrl and press the plus key. On a Mac, hold Command and press the plus key.
- Press Colour. A yellow page means Colour is on. Press Colour again and the page is white.
- Press Sound. The page speaks. Press Sound again and it stops.
- Leave Compass where their hand goes. On a laptop, open the Chrome menu, choose Save and share, then Create shortcut. Name it Compass. On an Android tablet, open the Chrome menu and choose Add to Home screen. A phone can do this too. A tablet or a laptop is the better seat.
- Step back. Can they open Compass and stop the voice without you pointing? That is the end.
If they already use JAWS or NVDA, leave that as it is. You are not putting a program on the computer that starts by itself.
Compass is free. If you know a person with low vision, or a person who helps them, send them the Compass page.
Compass is for people with low vision. It is not for war. Hospice is welcome in any country.
